STUDIO G & S ARCHITECTS / Laurel Street Residence

This residence is located near the Berkeley Rose Garden with views of the San Francisco Bay. The down-sloping lot allowed for entry into a large, open light filled space. Ceiling heights, and finish materials were used to articulate living, dining, and kitchen areas. The great space opens onto a large deck for entertaining. A straight-leg staircase leads downstairs to three bedrooms and a family room leading to the yard. Traditional exterior materials and a modest street scale relate the building to the surrounding neighborhood context. More contemporary massing and detailing are seen on the rear elevation which relate to the yard and expansive views beyond.
